Flexible, Interdisciplinary Modules

Developed in 2017 by Melanie Bloom with the ABN Educational Consulting Group, our Global Food Security Challenge Curriculum contains three flexible modules that not only increase students' understanding of world hunger and the issues that drive it, but also gives them an opportunity to take an active role in becoming part of the solution.

Module 1: Examine Poverty and Hunger
Fosters understanding of the reality and implications of global hunger by exploring poverty and how it impacts all aspects of life and society.

Module 2: Compare Assistrance and Sustainability
Evaluates food assistance programs and what it takes to build sustainable solutions to poverty and hunger.

Module 3: Investigate and Activate
Engages students in becoming part of the solution by researching, creating and leading projects that support sustainable food security with the potential for world-wide impact!

Meet Our New CEO

Max Finberg, our new President and CEO

We are pleased to announce that Max Finberg is joining Foods Resource Bank, soon to be known as Growing Hope Globally, as President and CEO on September 1, 2018.

Max has 25 years of experience working to end hunger and poverty in both the United States and around the world, most recently serving as a director of the United Nation’s World Food Program in Rome, Italy, the world’s largest humanitarian agency.

In addition, Max has held senior positions with AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America, the domestic Peace Corps), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Department of State, and the White House, where he gained a deep understanding of sustainable agricultural development and worked to inspire and encourage faith leaders and others to end hunger. He holds a master’s degree in religious studies from Howard University’s School of Divinity and a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from Tufts University.

Along with his wife Kate and their two children, Max is looking forward to moving back to their home in Maryland. He also is excited to get to know the FRB family and join us in our goal to reach even more people in need around the world and support them in growing lasting solutions to hunger.
